President Ram Knov Kovind said today, “If we want to achieve our most important constitutional aspirations, the role of women in justice must be upheld.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Uttar Pradesh National University of Law and the new Aliahabad High Court building in Praiagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Referring to the historic decision of the Supreme Court of Allahabad in 1921 to register India's first attorney, Cornelia Surabji, the president saw the decision as an ongoing step towards women's empowerment.
Last month, she said there was a new record of women's participation in the judiciary, with three of the nine judges appointed to the Supreme Court. He said it was the largest in the history of the judiciary that there were four women judges in the Supreme Court out of a total of 33 judges.
Quind said his appointment paved the way for India's head of justice. He emphasized that a truly just society could only be created if women's participation was increased in all areas, including the judiciary. The president pointed out that women judges have less than 12 percent power in the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court at the time. The president said he saw the struggles of the poor closer to justice. Everyone has hopes for justice, but people are often skeptical about court services.
This situation must change if we are to increase public confidence in the judiciary. "Everyone needs to face the law in a timely manner, the judiciary needs to be cheaper, and decisions must be made in a language understood by ordinary people, especially women," she said.
This can only happen if all stakeholders in the judiciary make and respond to the changes needed in their thinking and practice. Regarding the PraiaGraj selection by the National University of Law in Uttar Pradesh, the President said PraiaGraj is a major training center. He said because of the important role of the courts in Aliabad and Praiagarj as a training center, this is an ideal location for the Faculty of Law.
