Canadian election: Man accused of throwing stones at Justin Trudeau

Shane Marshall, 25, faces a charge of "armed robbery" in a recent stone-throwing incident aimed at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a pre-election campaign in September 20 in Canada.

Canadian police have arrested and charged an opposition politician for stoning Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in London, Ontario earlier this month during a pre-election campaign.
Shane Marshall, 25, a resident of St Thomas, faces a charge of "assault with a weapon" on September 6 and appeared in a London court on Saturday, local police said.
Marshall, until recently, led the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) association in his area or region. He was recently fired by the PPC.
Trudeau was not injured in the September 6 stoning incident as she was preparing to board her campaign bus, and her interlocutors reported that some of them had also been pelted with small stones.
On Friday, an unidentified man was arrested and charged with police for threatening Trudeau during a campaign in Cambridge, Ontario in late August.
Trudeau faced noisy mob protests at several post-election rallies in the run-up to the September 20 election, most notably his announcement that Covid-19 drugs would be forced on employees of state-owned companies, as well as on domestic and airline trains.
Trudeau also faced protests in Surrey, British Columbia, when a campaign rally in Bolton, Ontario was canceled last month due to a mass gathering of protesters. However, past incidents were limited to harassment in Trudeau.
Trudeau said last week he would not "allow" crowds like these "anti-vaxxers" to "control how the country goes through this epidemic".
The attack drew criticism from the Prime Minister's main rival, Conservative Party leader Erin O'Toole, who tweeted, "This is disgusting and I strongly condemn these acts."
Trudeau is not the only leader to have been attacked during his campaign. Earlier this month, PPC leader Maxime Bernier was beaten with an egg at an event in Saskatoon in Saskatchewan province.
Bernier denied the London incident in a tweet the day after it happened, saying, “Someone hit me with an egg last week. I can see that none of the party leaders have made a statement. Another idiot threw small stones at Mr Trudeau yesterday. I condemn you. Names are our weapons. But physical abuse is not always right. ”
