Gujarat chief Minister Vijay Rupani is resigning

 on Saturday he presented his resignation to Governor Acharya Devvrat in Raj Bhavan.
His resignation comes a year before the general election in the province.
After submitting his resignation letter, Rupani told reporters that he was very grateful to the BJP leadership for giving him the opportunity to become prime minister.
"During my tenure, I had the opportunity to work for the development of the state under Prime Minister Narendra
Leadership, "said Rupani.
He scrutinized questions about the reasons for his sudden move, saying he had worked as a CM for five long years.
Rupani added that the change of guards is a natural occurrence in the BJP.
He said he would continue to work under the leadership of the BJP national president.
"People have been repeating their faith in the BJP for the past five years," he said
As for who will be the next prime minister, Rupani said the party would decide on it.
He denied that he had any disagreements with BJP president C R R Paatil.
Rupani comes from the Jain community with a 2% population in the province.
It is speculated that his successor may come from the Patidar community.
He first became prime minister on August 7, 2016, following the resignation of Anandiben Patel, and continued in office after the BJP's victory in the 2017 general election.
Rupani, who completed five years in office on August 7 this year, was present at the inauguration ceremony on Saturday in Sardardham Bhavan where Modi was present.
Rupani is the third BJP CM to leave in recent months.
Earlier, BS Yediyurappa and Tirath Singh Rawat stepped down as prime ministers of Karnataka and Uttarakhand respectively.
In Assam again, after the results of the convention elections, the BJP replaced Sarbananda Sonowal with incumbent Himanta Biswa Sarma.
