Prince Andrew has been charged with sexually assaulting Giuffre - in court

Prince Andrew of Britain has been used in a lawsuit against a woman he accused of abusing and beating him 20 years ago, when he claimed he was also being abused by economist Jeffrey Epstein, according to a court hearing on Friday.
In an affidavit filed in the US Regional Court in Manhattan, Cesar Sepulveda, who calls himself a "corporate investigator / process investigator," said he had left a copy of the case of Virginia Giuffre on August 27 with a police officer guarding the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England, Andrew's residence.

London-based Sepulveda said police had told him the day before he had been ordered not to accept court papers in Andrew's name, but when he returned he was told the papers would be forwarded to the prince's "Legal Team".

Police refused to see Andrew or say where the prince was, he added.

Andrew's spokespersons said on Friday his lawyers could not comment. A source close to Andrew's legal team said the prince was not personally used.

Andrew, 61, is one of the most prominent people linked to Epstein, who has been accused by Manhattan government prosecutors in July 2019 of sexually abusing dozens of girls and women.

Epstein, a registered criminal, committed suicide on August 10, 2019, at the age of 66 at Manhattan Prison.

His August 9 trial https://www.reuters.com/p legal / government / prince-andrew-sued by jeffrey-epstein-complainant-accused of sexual harassment-2021-08-09 this year, Giuffre said Andrew forced her to have unwanted sex in the home of London's Ghislaine Maxwell, a British social worker who had worked closely with Epstein.
He also alleged that Andrew harassed him at the Epstein mansion in Manhattan on the Upper East Side, and on the private island that Epstein owned in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a BBC interview in November 2019, Andrew, a former Epstein friend, denied Giuffre's allegations of sexual harassment, saying he did not remember meeting him.

"I can tell you completely, in stages that it never happened," Andrew said.

The first hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon before a U.S. Regional Judge. Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan. Maxwell faces a planned November 29 trial before a separate Manhattan judge on charges of aiding and abetting Epstein's sexual assault. He has pleaded not guilty.
In 2017, Maxwell fined Giuffre $ 50 million. Maxwell is not a defendant in Giuffre's case against Andrew.
