Assam boat accident: About 120 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
A few passengers were missing after a large private boat capsized on the Brahmaputra River near Nimati Ghat in Assam Jorhat following a boat collision on Wednesday.
About 120 passengers were traveling in the boat when the incident happened, G G Tripathi, CEO of ASDMA, was quoted as saying by News.
Staff of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF carry out search and rescue operations.
Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Barman told PTI media that 41 people have been rescued so far and no body has been found.
Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he had instructed the management of Majuli and Jorhat to carry out urgent rescue work with the help of the NDRF and SDRF.
