The 59-year-old boy who was unanimously elected BJP leader on Sunday was sworn in as the 17th Prime Minister by Governor Acharya Devvrat at a ceremony in Gandhinagar.
Congratulating 'Bhupendra Bhai', Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had known her for many years and had seen her exemplary work in the BJP Organization and in public administration and community service.

The Prime Minister also praised Vijay Rupani and said that during his five years as CM, the former Prime Minister of Gujarat has taken many steps for the people. He

During the swearing-in ceremony, Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah and some BJP provincial ministers also attended Raj Bhavan.

After the event, Vijay Rupani also said he had full faith that under Patel's leadership, the party would move forward, as was the development of the state.
"Gujarat will be a good example for all provinces," he said.
"In the next Council elections, the BJP will win Gujarat under the leadership of Bhupendra Patel. I will continue to work as a party and follow his (Patel's) instructions," said the former Gujarat CM.
Born in Ahmedabad, Patel is a member of the Ghatlodia legislature, which he won by more than 1,17 lakh votes in 2017, which is the highest point in that poll. Patel, in particular, has never held a ministerial position, like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was never a minister when he joined Gujarat CM 20 years ago.With the election of the State Parliament in December 2022, the BJP has a bank in Patel, Patidar, in a poll victory. In the 2017 Council elections, the BJP won 99 out of 182 seats and Congress won 77 seats.
