Ravi Shastri tests for coronavirus, isolated from other supporting staff members

LONDON: India's head coach Ravi Shastri has been diagnosed with coronavirus and was separated from three other close associates including team bowling coach Bharath Arun as a defense, BCCI revealed on Sunday.
Shastri has returned positive results in a lateral flow test (Rapid Antigen Test) and will remain in solitary confinement until the report of his and others RT-PCR reports.
There is no threat in the ongoing fourth Test against England as all other playing members have been tested without any lateral flow tests performed on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Fielding trainer R Sridhar and physiotherapist Nitin Patel are also separated.
"The BCCI Medical Team has parted ways with Mr. Ravi Shastri, head coach, Mr. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr. R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach and Mr. Nitin Patel, a Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after testing Mr. Shastri's return last night," BCCI Secretary Jay Shah says this while releasing.
The team will head to Manchester on Tuesday and if the four find out they have RT-PCR, they will have to be kept in solitary confinement for 10 days following the two adverse effects of RT-PCR.
"They have been tested for RT-PCR and will stay at the club's hotel and will not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team," he said.
"The remaining members of Team India faced the Lastal Flow Tests - one last night and one in the morning. Members while returning negative COVID reports were allowed to continue the 4th day of the fourth ongoing Test at The Oval."
Regular lateral flow tests do not give accurate results as it is a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and is a self-test method given to each side member.
The Indian contingent has been conducting tests for lateral movement every day since Rishabh Pant was tested with COVID during a three-week break.
It is understandable that Shastri may have received the marks after attending his book launch party at a party hotel where foreign guests were allowed.
"As there are no borders in the UK, foreign visitors were allowed during the ceremony to present the letter of the Master. These people were also the people he was most in contact with, so now it has led to compulsory separation," a BCCI source said.
"He is sympathetic to Barath Arun. This is the second time he has been kept in solitary confinement because another person was tested for the virus. The last time it was Dayanand Garani, a masseur, he met Arun and was later diagnosed with the disease," he added.
