UK housing prices are jumping as market power continues: Halifax

LONDON  - British housing prices have risen sharply in the past month, a sign of strong market volatility even after a slight reduction in property taxes, Halifax mortgage surveyors said on Tuesday.
Housing prices rose 0.7% in August, a month-on-month increase, followed by a 0.4% increase in July, Halifax said.
According to seasonal figures, house price growth has dropped to 7.1% from 7.6% in July, a weak study for five months.

"These trends look set to continue and the profits made since the start of the epidemic may not be reversed if only the remaining tax balance at the end of this month is over."
Last week, national credit rival Nationalwide said its British housing prices rose sharply in August to show their second-highest monthly increase in 15 years after the fall in July.
